Common Core State Standards

How to Supplement Current CPM Texts

For those sites that have purchased the Connections textbooks prior to 2011, CPM has developed classroom resources and lesson sequences so that those courses can be used to meet the CCSS requirements.

These resources mean that schools that have already adopted CPM Connections will be able to continue to use their current textbooks to align courses with the CCSS.

All CPM Connections texts are already fully aligned with the CCSS Standards for Mathematical Practice.

The supplement booklets offered below address the CCSS topics that are missing in the existing core textbooks due to CCSS changing the grade or course in which a topic is taught. In most cases these supplemental lessons are sourced from other CPM courses. For example, the supplemental Algebra 1 material covering the CCSS standards for "sequences" was sourced from CPM Algebra 2 Connections.

Gradual Transition to CCSS: Statistics and Probability Resource
Schools that wish to make a gradual transition to implementing CCSS content standards may want to consider starting by implementing only the CCSS statistics and probability standards. In that case, the supplement booklets offered below are not necessary until full implementation of the CCSS standards is desired. Instead, CPM's Statistics and Probability Resource can be used toward gradually adding CCSS standards to the curriculum. The statistics and probability lessons can be added to any course, anywhere in the sequence of the course. (Prerequisite skills are identified at the beginning of each unit in the Statistics and Probability Resource to help in planning sequencing.) The resource can be downloaded at no cost.

Professional Development
Professional Development customized to your needs is available for implementing the supplemental books or the Statistics and Probability Resource.
