Manipulative Kits
Foundations for Algebra 1 & 2, Math 1, Math 2, Math 3
(NOTE: These kits are NOT for use with Algebra Connections, Geometry Connections, Algebra 2 Connections.)
We have arranged with Think It By Hand to offer a kit of the manipulatives you will need during the year for Foundations for Algebra: Years 1 and 2, Math 1 (Algebra 1), Math 2 (Geometry), and Math 3 (Algebra 2). Each of the kits contains sufficient supplies for 36 students.
Foundations for Algebra, Year 1
This kit contains coins, compasses, dice, envelopes, paper bags, nylon webbing (for the algebra walk), straws, string, zip lock bags, a base ten blackline master, centimeter cubes, cylindrical objects, integer tiles, 1" x 2" wood pieces, protractors, and sticky notes. The kit is priced at $140.00
Foundations for Algebra, Year 2
This kit includes envelopes, flexible measure tape, large laminated graphing charts, sticky dots, sticky notes, straws, string, Algebra desktop tile sets (one set for four students working cooperatively), 1 oz. cups for integer tiles, integer tiles, blank dice, an overhead algebra tile set, beans, square tiles (from student algebra tile sets), and a two-pan balance scale. The kit is priced at $236.00. A velcro presentation set of algebra tiles is also available (at additional cost).
Math 1 (Algebra 1)
Algebra desktop tile sets (one set for four students working cooperatively). Small squares are 1" x 1", strips are 1" x 3.5", and large squares are 3.5" x 3.5". They will be easier to see when they fall on the floor than commercial algebra tiles. The larger size will also make them easier to handle. The rest of the kit consists of nylon fabric axes for the algebra walk, colored sticky dots, paper bags and beans (two colors) for the fish experiment, cooperative logic card sets, cups, straws, index cards, dental floss, dice, measuring tapes, 6 large laminated graphing/coordinate grid charts, an overhead algebra tile set, washers, and a burning candle video. The kit is priced at $222.00.
Math 2 (Geometry)
Silent square sets printed on cardstock, 750 3/4” hardwood cubes, toothpicks, patty paper, oversized straws, washers, dental floss, linguini, large chart/grid paper, clinometer, printed on cardstock. The kit is priced at $120.00.
Math 3 (Algebra 2)
Yarn, pencils, pencil sharpeners, super balls, ream of computer paper, markers, two-color counters, dice, Algebra coordinate-walk system (x-axis 40', y-axis 60', ends and origin grommeted for staking to ground), colored cards, removable adhesive dots, overhead algebra tiles, student set of algebra tiles (printed on cardstock), plastic storage tub, laminated coordinate chart with velcro attachments, non-laminated student coordinate charts. The kit is priced at $211.00. A velcro presentation set of algebra tiles is also available (at additional cost).

While CPM has helped the vendor assemble a kit that is comprehensive, there is no financial arrangement between CPM and Think It by Hand so that the price of the materials is as low as possible.
