Geometry Connections: Course Materials
In each chapter’s teacher notes, a list of the necessary and optional materials for that chapter appears. This section contains compiled lists of all materials that do not come with the Teacher Guide, materials that will need to be purchased if they are not already available as existing classroom supplies. Note: Basic teacher supplies (such as a chalkboard, chalk, copy paper, and blank transparencies for copying resource pages) are not included in these lists, nor are basic student supplies such as scientific calculators, paper, pencils, and erasers.
Highly recommended:
- Dynamic Geometry Tool – such as a computer lab or teacher’s computer with Geometer’s Sketchpad which is able to be projected with either projector or a TV screen, or a class set of graphing calculators with CABRA Jr. and an overhead graphing calculator display. While activities will be provided for teachers that do not have access to technology, using a dynamic tool provides students the ability to understand geometric properties and relationships deeper, as well as test conjectures for multiple situations quickly and conveniently. - Reflective plastic tool, such as MIRA by EAI Education or Reflecta by Safe-T (for Chapter 3)
- Laser pointer and chalk dust or cornstarch (For demonstrations in Chapter 2)
- Polyhedra construction tools, such as Geofix (as described in Lesson 11.1.1)
